At my son's with family watching NFL playoff football games on his beautiful theater room. Lucky me. Going to Duo this with Ryan while watching the game. Go Ravens.
Exited from the can like Hershey's chocolate syrup. Almost no head and coats the glass with a heavy tan film. Definitely one of the top three beers ever on thickness. Aroma gives the expected Bourbon barrel along with a super sweet malt. When it enters the mouth, it's confirmed that this is an extremely heavy beer. Extremely sweet, heavy on Bourbon barrel flavor, dark chocolate syrup. Nothing changes as it enters the finish.
As to flavor, I have to give this beer a very high score. It's delicious. But it's so sweet and so heavy there's no way I can drink a full 16 oz can. I love Hershey's chocolate syrup, but I can't drink 16 straight oz of it. Ryan believes they left it in the barrel too long and allowed it evaporate too much. I love it but it's too heavy for a 16 oz can. Great rating but I can't finish this.
Disappointed I could not use the barcode rating, but I'm not paying for a feature that was part of its original design.

Opened this can as a Duo with Ryan right after the Alabama Auburn football game. Still trying to catch my breath from such a tremendous and so unlikely outcome. Somehow, Roll Tide Roll! 🐘🏈
Has a very thick and frothy head, 3/4 in high. Aroma is both sweet molasses and the smell of roasted wort that I was privileged to experience not long ago. The flavor of a Black IPA is always powerful. Strongly roasted malt, deeply cooked molasses, powerful citrus hop bitterness, and a resinous pine kick. Well balanced, none dominant over the others. Finish ads a sweet mellow citrus flavor, soft like a tangerine while retaining a sharp edge of hop bitterness.
I haven't had many Black IPA s, but I like this combination of roasted, like a stout, but retains its hop bitterness of an IPA. Interesting combination.

Extremely hoppy but the strawberries somewhat save it along with a slight marshmallow finish

Back at Whiskey River Ranch again. Preparing for the brutal, bloodthirsty, no mercy given, trash talking, SOTS Poker Tournament about to begin. There may be violence 🔪🪓 and gunplay in store for this evening (this is Texas) 🤠. (Karen, I'm joking, sort of)
Deep yellow and very hazy color. Strong citrus and bitter hops aroma. Texture conveys a softness that most IPAs don't have. Level of bitterness allows me to enjoy the guava and pineapple.

Happy Friday. This one is fruity & tropical that leans towards papaya, apricot, tangerine, light lemongrass, light grapefruit. It all kind of meshes really well. Has a light bitterness, finishes dry and even has hints of bready malt
Overall this one is really nice.

Having this Texas Ingenious beer with my son on Duo. Started having nostalgia photos that prolongs this collaboration way too long. Damn how the years fly by.
I bought this beer while in Texas thinking it was a stout. Turns out it is a cherry and chocolate sour. Oh well, cross our fingers and hope for the best.
Almost no head on this brew. Sour aroma of sweet cherries. Very hazy orangish yellow color. Light, almost juice like texture. Tart, almost sour cherries with very faint notes of milk chocolate in the background. Finish is no different. Lingers a while and is gone without a trace.
I have never been a fan of sours, but this is not bad. The sour cherries and faint chocolate are agreeable and have a low sour threshold that I can enjoy. Probably won't try this again but it was interesting.

Enjoying this beer as a Duo with my son-in-law. He's had it before and loved it and sent one back home with me. He said I would love it.
Medium high head but this thing is super hazy. To the point that it's opaque even while being poured. Looks like grapefruit in a glass with all of the sediment. Aroma is of grapefruit and oranges and maybe a little alcohol. First sip is Wow! Very soft creamy texture, especially for an IPA. No bitterness! Actually it's very sweet. A perfect blend of grapefruit and oranges, both present but easy to distinguish between the two. Powerful flavor that goes into the finish with only the smallest whiff of bitterness on the tongue. Turns a little dry and then the taste disappears. Begs for another sip. This is 12.5% and I don't get any of it. Talk about a dangerous drink on a hot afternoon.
I prefer my dessert stouts, strong, flavorful, to be sipped and enjoyed. IPAs don't normally follow that agenda. This one's different. My first dessert quadruple IPA. This is the IPA version of a pastry stout. No guzzling this, sip it, enjoy it, savor it, sweet and delicious. Best IPA I have ever found.
