Doing the best I can at Galveston brewing with my son-in-law. Taking a taste of this dark brew. Stormy night Black IPA. Should be unique. Strangely enough, this has a lightly citrus aroma. Very dark brown opaque color. Came to me with almost no head in the cup. Severely deep roasted, has a grapefruit peel with it. Not sure why, but I kind of like this.

With my son-in-law out brewery hopping in Houston. Next stop is Galveston Bay Brewing, having one of their signature wee heavy beers. This is truly incredible. Took their Bull Shark beer and amplified it into this Megalodon 10% brew. Dark brown opaque color with a small amount of thick foam. Has sweet notes of wine. Tons of sweet flavor overwhelm you with this intense super Scottish ale beer. Strong sweet caramel, lightly roasted malt. Malossas blends effortless into a lambrusco red wine finish. With a full beer menu available to me, I decide to have a second glass of this. It's that good. I'm trying my best not to do this but I can't help myself. 5.0.

At Galveston Bay Brewing with my son-in-law. Trying a unique nitro rum barrel aged Stout. Wow! Huge blast of rum. Not sure if there's any beer in this glass or not. Seems much stronger than 10% alcohol. Thin soft texture. Roasted coffee blends with the rum. Flavor hits hard, puts a shiver into you. Finish gradually recedes into a slow warming burn. This is like a glass of rum with a splash of beer added. Intensely strong. Don't really think I could handle another. A one and done for me. PS: Insane son-in-law loves it.

At Galveston Bay Brewing with my son-in-law enjoying the last beer on this visit. Totally clear, very light yellow in color. Almost no aroma or head. Very modest effervescence. Soft texture. Crisp. Flavor is with a modest amount of cream corn. Smooth but nothing special.

With my son-in-law visiting Galveston Bay Brewing. This is a brewery only beer. Came to me in a small sniffer glass with no head. Color is of a deep reddish wine. Faint aroma of fruit. Medium texture. Flavor is of dark wine. Closely followed by boozy alcohol and a touch of grape sourness. Very smooth and gentle transition into the finish that is a little sweet and distinctive dark grapes.

Enjoying another unusual barrel-aged beer with my son-in-law at Galveston Bay Brewing. Opaque brown color. Boozy. Aroma with some coffee mixed in. Flavor brings out some alcohol but it's dominated by a 8-hour old coffee that's both bitter with hints of sweetness. Finish brings forth a quick disappearing ending. For a strong bourbon barrel brew, this is surprisingly drinkable.

With my son-in-law at Galveston Bay Brewing. Bartender says we need to try this rum barrel aged beer. Very dark and deep red color but not opaque. Strong, very strong rum aroma. Very light texture. Strong rum flavor with intense dark fruit, dates seems the principal flavor. Finish turns a little on the sour fruit side but this is still an excellent beer.

With my son-in-law at Galveston Bay Brewing enjoying number four on a flight of four. Have enjoyed this out of a can but never on tap. Another bronze medal winning beer. Deep brown opaque color. Strong French roast coffee aroma. Texture is both crisp and thin. Deep roasted coffee flavor transitioning into a raw bitter Cocoa chocolate. Very easy going into the finish, lightly bitter coffee with the smallest amount of roasted chocolate remaining. Understand why it won an award.

With my son-in-law that Galveston Bay Brewing enjoying the third beer on a flight of four. This is a bronze medal winning beer that I have had before but never on tap. Color is a very deep wine red, intense haze enough to make it opaque. Very gentle texture. Flavor has no bitterness and the intensity is mild. Flavor is of a bitter dark cherry, disappears during a moderately dry finish. Not my favorite Scottish ale.

At Galveston Bay Brewing with my son-in-law. This is the second beer on a flight of four and only available on tap at the brewery. Dark brown opaque color. Clean and smooth texture. No carbonation evident. Strong cinnamon flavor blended with raw vanilla bean. Plenty of lactose. Very smooth transition into the finish, flavor never changes.
