I tasted the 1-year aged edition a week ago. Now a version that has been aged in oak Bourbon barrels for 2 years. Vintage 2026, a higher ABV than that of the regular 2yo version. Regardless of the absence of a side-by-side assessment, this will be interesting. The beer looks lucid, dark chestnut brown. Could it be marginally darker than the 1yo? Looks like it was but can't really tell. The carbonation is mild. The beige head is restrained and short-lived. Date, dried plum and brown sugar find my nose first. Vanilla is ample, reflecting the seduction of Bourbon. Oak barrel notes can't be missed either. Remote cacao nibs probably in the shadows, as well. Sounds more or less identical to the 1yo version. The gustatory slam is powerful. Not supersoft but not aggressive either. Intensive Bourbon tickles my tastebuds. Very nice! Appealing barreling! Date, vanilla, dried plum, a suggestion of cacao nibs, barrel nuances... Alcohol, again, doesn't shy away. The cocktail is very close to what the 1yo edition had already served. The body is full. The end comes with s long tail, a neat set of elements carried over from the start. The alcoholic punch intensifies a bit at this stage. The mouthfeel is full, barrel aged, intense, deep, a tad alcoholic and warming. Much rounder anyway than the younger brother, no such rawness to be observed. Characterful. Now we start talking! This is much more like what a BBA barleywiney should be able to offer.

Tuoksu on makua pehmeämpi. Pehmeähkö, hieman jauhoinen suutuntuma. Suklaata ja kahvia, loppua kohti tummuen. Tynnyri sopivasti mukana. Kuivattava jälkimaku. - - - Smoother on the nose than on the taste. Smoothish, slightly floury mouthfeel. Chocolate and coffee, both getting darker towards the end. Barrel brings nice flavours along. Drying aftertaste.

Nightcap and the end of the vacation. Tomorrow: back to work 😒 The beer looks translucent, chestnut brown. Very barleywiney. Lazy carbonation. A feeble beige lacing disappears fairly quickly from the surface. Powerful date in the scent. Style compatible. Bold vanilla echoes the Bourbon barrel. Raisin, dried plum, brown sugar and cacao nibs dance in the background. The tongue likes the intensive flavors: overwhelming Bourbon, bags of accompanying vanilla, harsh oak barrel notes, sweet date, brown sugar, raisin and a twist of cacao nibs. Alcohol is not hiding but rather obvious among the elements. The body is full. The tail is alcoholic, and a tad chemical. It's strong, intense, full, deep and barrel aged. Not raw but not particularly mature either. A manageable albeit arrogant piece.

Really nice aroma. Lot's of bourbon, and vanilla. Taste is also nice. Bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and woodiness. Mouthfeel is a little bit too thin. It's also dry and quite sharp. Not that smooth I was hoping for. Overall very nice but not amazing BA Imperial Stout.

Prosentteihin nähden vähän ohkainen suutuntuma. Maussa kahvia, suklaata ja kevyesti pähkinää ja manteliakin. Hieman rommirusinaakin. Vaikka ohkainen, niin ei vetinen. Kelpo makuprofiili, mutta paksummalla suutuntumalla olisi ollut itselleni mielyttävämpi.

Full and sweet body. Burned malts with moderately thick feel to it. Aftertaste has some milk chocolate added with downtoned bitter almond. Holds its alcohol really well, well balanced yet I was left yearning for something more.
