The strong coconut note at the beginning is a bit scary. Coconut isn’t one of my personal favorites in beer. Fortunately, even though the coconut remains strongly present throughout, the barrel aging and bourbon character also come through very nicely. There are also notes of vanilla, oak barrel character, chocolate, coffee, and rye. The mouthfeel is pleasantly rich, dry and smooth. ______________________ Alkuun tuo vahva kookos vähän säikäyttää. Kookos ei omia suosikkejani oluessa. Onneksi kuitenkin, vaikka kookos on tässä koko ajan vahvasti läsnä, myös tynnyröinti ja Bourbon tulevat oikein kivasti esille. Mukana myös vaniljaa, tammitynnyröintiä, suklaata, kahvia ja ruista. Mukavan runsas, kuiva ja pehmeä suutuntuma.

Absolutely lovely aroma on this one. There's a really rich maple syrup note coming out of the glass and honestly it smells amazing. Behind that there's also a nice little rum presence lurking around in the background. Not overpowering just giving it some extra depth and warmth. The mouthfeel is very rich and full-bodied, quite sweet but in a good way, smooth and really balanced overall. I think that's actually one of the best things here. Dispite being such a thick and heavy beer, everything feels properly in balance. Sometimes beers like this have poor drinkability but here everything seems to work together really well. Because of that, it's actually surprisingly easy to drink. Maybe dangerously easy even. Maple syrup comes through very clearly and stays present throughout. Then there's the barrel character adding some nice depth, along with chocolate and cocoa notes bringing a lovely richness. Plenty of sweetness too of course, but again not becoming too much. The rum influence is there as well and adds a warming, slightly boozy edge without taking over the whole thing. The finish is long, rich and properly satisfying. Sweet, smooth and warming in the chest in that really nice way that big imperial stouts sometimes do. It just sort of lingers and hangs around for ages leaving behind chocolatey sweetness and that lovely barrel warmth. A truly fantastic beer. Absolutely masterful stuff really. I genuinely love seeing European imperial stouts starting to get these properly massive, thick bodies as well. This is Side Project quality. __________________ Tosi ihana vaahterasiirapin tuoksu tässä. Mukava rommin hönky taustalla. Suutuntuma on runsas, täyteläinen, makeahko, pehmeä ja tasapainoinen. Kaikki tämä takaa tosi hyvän juotavuuden, kun kaikki on balanssissa myös tällainen oikein paksu olut on helposti juotavaa. Maussa vaahterasiirappia, tynnyröintiä, suklaata, kaakaota, makeutta ja rommia. Jälkimaku on makea, pehmeä, runsas, pitkäkestoinen ja rintaa lämmittävä. Todella upea olut! Mestarillinen! Mahtavaa, että myös eurooppalaisiin imppeihin on alettu saada kunnon tuhteja runkoja. Se ei ole enää Side Projectin yksinoikeus.

Wow, this really surprised me. Very positive surprise. Blueberries and rum barrels in an imperial stout don’t sound like a combination that would work particularly well to me, but this beer actually works extremely well. There’s a lot of blueberry here and the flavor is really pleasant. The rum barrel aging provides strong support as well bringing noticeable rum character and a warming sensation in the chest. Lactose, vanilla, honey and sugar add sweetness and while you might expect them to make it overly sweet they really don’t. It’s just the right amount. Smooth, sweet, balanced, full of character and very easy to drink. The beer has a rich body with a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. With a thinner body, the blueberry flavor could have ended up feeling a bit watery, but now it doesn't. __________________ Oho nyt kyllä yllätti isosti ja nimenomaan positiivisesti. Mustikka ja rommitynnyrit imperial stoutista eivät itselleni kuulosta kovin hyvin yhteen sopivalta yhdistelmältä, mutta tämä olut toimii todella hyvin. Tässä on todella runsaasti mustikkaa ja sen maku on tässä tosi miellyttävä. Rommitynnytöinti tukee aika vahvastikin tuoden tähän rommisen maun ja lämmön rintaan. Laktoosi, vanilla, hunaja ja sokeri taas tuovan tähän makeutta ja vaikka voisi kuvitella, että tuovat sitä aivan liikaa niin ei. Juuri sopivasti. Pehmeä, makea, tasapainoinen, ryhdikäs ja helposti juotavaa. Aika paksu runko ja se on vain hyvä asia tässä. Ohuemmalla rungolla mustikan maku olisi voinut jäädä vähän liruksi.

There’s a pleasant coconut note on the nose. Not too much, but nicely present alongside the bourbon. The mouthfeel is slightly sweet, smooth, pleasant, balanced and easy to drink. The body is fairly medium. The flavor has notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut, caramel and bourbon. The finish is rather dry and coconut-forward, leaving a dark chocolate taste in the mouth. It gives a nice warming sensation in the chest. A very well-balanced, slightly lighter-bodied BA Imperial Stout. ______________ Tuoksussa kivasti kookosta. Ei liikaa, mutta kivasti esillä Bourbonin kanssa. Suutuntuma on makeahko, pehmeä, miellyttävä, tasapainoinen ja helposti juotavaa. Runko sellainen keskiverto. Maussa tummaa suklaata, vaniljaa, kookosta, karamellia ja Bourbonia. Jälkimaku on kuivahko, kookoksinen ja jättää suuhun sellaisen tumman suklaan maun. Kivasti lämmittää rintaa. Oikein hyvin tasapainossa oleva vähän kevyempi BA Imperial Stout.

The aroma opens with maple syrup, very dark chocolate, roasted malts and rich cocoa notes. Mouthfeel: good body, well-balanced, smooth, sweet and highly drinkable for a beer of this style. The flavor delivers layers of sweetness, maple syrup, coffee, pecan, cocoa and dark chocolate. The different elements work together nicely, creating a rich and satisfying drinking experience. The finish is pleasantly long, leaving lingering impressions of dark chocolate and maple syrup on the palate. There is also a barrel-aged version of this beer available and that is something I would love to try. This is an excellent Imperial Porter. Well-crafted, flavorful and clearly made with quality in mind. It even works surprisingly well in 30°C summer heat, provided you can find a shady table with a nice breeze. ________________________ Tuoksussa vaahterasiirappia, tosi tummaa suklaata, paahteisuutta ja kaakaota. Suutuntuma on ryhdikäs, tasapainoinen, pehmeä, makea ja juotavuus on myös oikein hyvä. Maussa on makeutta, vaahterasiirappia, kahvia, pähkinää, kaakaota ja tummaa suklaata. Jälkimaku on mukavan pitkä. Jättää suuhun tumman suklaan ja vaahterasiirapin maun. Tästä on tehty myös tynnyrikypsytetty versio. Sen haluaisin maistaa. Oikein hyvä imperial porter. Laadukas. Toimii myös 30 -asteen helteessä, kun paikaksi löytyy varjoinen ja tuulinen pöytä.
