Grosse mousse onctueuse
Au nez belle odeur d'agrumes
En bouche belle amertume, goût d'agrumes bien équilibré pas écoeurant.
Manque un peut de rondeur.
Carbo classique.

Pretty carbonated, a lot of thin bubbles. Nice head. Beautiful reddish colour.
Smells like bourbon with caramel and vanilla notes. We also have stonefruit and dry fruit notes (prune mostly). The smell is amazing!
The taste is smooth and we can feel the bubbles tickling the tongue. The obvious Bourbon aromas mix nicely with the red ale aromas to give a symphony of vanilla, caramel and dry fruit (prune, plum, and a bit of dried raisin).
The aftertaste is sweet and smooth.
Unlike many barrel aged beers this one is very drinkable and enjoyable. I'd even say it's refreshing!
Overall, a complex and balanced beer that has a refreshing dimension. A very good barrel aged beer! I also love the fact they aged a red ale and not a stout, this is a great idea and relatively original.
I like this beer a lot, good work!

La tête de canasson entourée de houblon au trais simple pour la version IPA. J'aime bien le choix des couleurs qui s'arrangent bien. Sinon rien d'extraordinaire pour se différencier de l'étalage.

Tan head, large bubbles receding. Aroma of sweet milk chocolate, with a touch of amaretto. Above average weight for a porter. It's creamy but not sticky. At first I get their vanilla and toffee, and only later the cocoa in a mildly toated malt. By the middle it all starts to fade and the finish leaves only a memory of dry cocoa. Never found the bourbon or the oak barrel or any of the 8%.
I still enjoyed the flavor. The vanilla and toffee stayed in the nasal long after it left the pallet. I guess the question is, would I try and seek out another? The answer is no, but it was interesting.
