Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale
8.2% American Strong Ale
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of well-crafted bourbon. Aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries, subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, it may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing & Distilling Company.

Pretty carbonated, a lot of thin bubbles. Nice head. Beautiful reddish colour. Smells like bourbon with caramel and vanilla notes. We also have stonefruit and dry fruit notes (prune mostly). The smell is amazing! The taste is smooth and we can feel the bubbles tickling the tongue. The obvious Bourbon aromas mix nicely with the red ale aromas to give a symphony of vanilla, caramel and dry fruit (prune, plum, and a bit of dried raisin). The aftertaste is sweet and smooth. Unlike many barrel aged beers this one is very drinkable and enjoyable. I'd even say it's refreshing! Overall, a complex and balanced beer that has a refreshing dimension. A very good barrel aged beer! I also love the fact they aged a red ale and not a stout, this is a great idea and relatively original. I like this beer a lot, good work!

Tap 42 -flightin numero 4. Meripihkainen väri on kirkas. Tuoksuasa savuista bourbonia todella ohkaisesti. Pehmeä ja ohuen makea kärki huokuu bourbonia, rungossa hieman paahteista tammisuutta ja jälkimaussa kevyt vaniljaisuus.

I've enjoyed this before but it was on tap. This is my first time having it from the bottle. A nice gift from a client. Nice tan head, what the hell! I have never seen a beer with such large and numerous particulates. Is this normal? No one else commented on the particulates. I'm almost scared to try it. They are staying totally suspended with only a few on the bottom. Some are moving up some are moving down. I was given two bottles so I think I'm going to examine the second and see if this the same. Yes, huge amount of particulate on the bottom of the bottle. Has anyone else seen this before? I'm only going to take a sip until I get some more information on this characteristic. That's really good. Vanilla, bourbon, and the oakey barrel taste. Wonderfully soft and creamy. Not going to waste this. I'm going to filter it through a coffee filter and then let it rip. Too good to throw away. Filter worked and I'm going to finish this confusing beer.
