2021 Christmas Advent Beer Day 20
A third Sour Wars which means I’ve had the entire series in my advent which is totally awesome!
This one totally overwhelms you at first with a big sour tart hit of flavour. Once that initial shock is over further sips start to reveal the complexities of the beer and individual flavours. It’s really good!
Tropical fruit flavours dominate giving a tropical sweetness. These balance well with the citrus fruit coming through too. I’m getting lots of vanilla and dark sugar notes as well as a hint of charred oak.
As the beer warms and my palate adjusts it’s just a hugely sippable flavour exploration. Fantastic beer!

2021 Christmas Advent Beer Day 19
Fuck me, another Sour Wars!!
I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first but it was still a decent beer. There was an increased booziness perceived, not sure why, I like that though. Not as mellow, lots of vinous dark fruits, some oak and hint of cherry all cut through the sourness nicely.

2021 Christmas Advent Beer Day 18
The most insane beer of my advent this year. I’ve followed Steel City and Lost Industry for a while but only really get to drink their beers when I’m back up north. I never thought I’d get to drink one of the Sour Wars series, so I’m hugely grateful to find this beer in my advent.
What a delight. So smooth and not a hint of alcohol at all. Sweetness from the honey, tartness from the raspberries and the most mellow sour I’ve ever had all mean this is one hell of a beer! There’s definitely a hint of a peat in the aftertaste too. Such complexities normally associated with barrel aged stouts.
The Pastore soured stout I had earlier this year was good, but this is something else… 👌

Fantastic example of a Braggot, a style I think should be explored more by brewers. I should probably look into doing this myself!
Sweetness from the honey is evident above the malt. The apricots bring a nice fruitiness and tartness that makes it refreshing, and there’s a mushiness evident too. This could come from the red wine barrel it was aged in or it just could be my imagination 😂
It’s like a sour beer that I actually like. Very nice!

Bonne blonde. Meilleur que certaines grandes marques.
