Stopping in Houston on our way to Whiskey River Ranch and this years SOTS reunion. Second beer to share ( no Duo needed! ) This is a stout, no frills. Aroma is lightly sweet, modestly roasted, smooth. Texture is both soft and gentle. Flavor has an easy-going sweetness, a touch of molasses to go along with a mild roasted flavor. So simple, so undemanding. Nothing fancy or flavors added. A great basic sweet roasted Stout that can be modified in many ways or enjoyed just as a damn good unmodified stout. Wonderful!!

Past post from earlier visit to 8th Wonder Brewery. This is a throwback tribute to the Houston Astrodome sometimes called the "8th Wonder of the World" when it was built. Many of "8th Wonders" beers are dedicated to that theme. Deep yellow color, lightly hazy. Small foam head. Sweet aroma but undistinguished. Very light and crisp texture, a little sour on the flavor side. Distinct citrus flavor, perhaps grapefruit. A mild bitter finish. Not a powerful brew, so you could drink a lot of this, especially with a meal or a ballgame.

Past post on earlier trip to 8 Wonder Brewery. Has a deep yellow color, totally clear, thin white head. Nice creamy texture. Flavor is of honey and cloves finish continues with the same flavor a little longer than expected.

Past post from earlier trip to the 8th Wonder Brewery. Dark brown opaque color. Small head. Aroma is of alcohol. Distinctly Jameson Irish whiskey. Flavor successfully continues with the Jameson Irish whiskey theme with a little bit of raisin. Has creaminess texture and a burnt coffee aftertaste. Finishes soft, sweet and continues with the Irish Whiskey alcohol.

After a very long and rainy drive I'm finally in Texas. Of course there's a beer ready for me when I got here. This is a beer that we're sharing between me and my daughter and son-in-law. Clear color, reddish brown. Malty amber characteristics with hints of maple and spice. Not a powerful beer. It's good but I would have liked the Maple and spice to have been a little more prominent. Still, if you're looking for a breakfast beer, this fits.

The last of my Texas beers ( Shiner doesn't count). Four month brew limited edition. Pours with a medium head but it doesn't last long. Color is yellow with a slight tint of orange. Mildly hazy. Very faint citrus aroma. Very smooth soft mouth feel, not much carbonation. Slightly fruity with cloves coming in the middle. Very gentle finish that's just a little sour. No bitterness at all from first to last. Wish it had just a little more punch to it.

On tap at Craft 96. Almost no aroma. Color is dark brown but not totally opaque. Light, somewhat carbonated, very dry feel in the mouth. Not near as creamy as I expected. Very mild taste. No finish, just gone. Not really a very good Porter for me.
