Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #16 2019 vintage Marshmallow, bourbon and chocolate notes throughout the aroma. Taste has marshmallow and chocolate up front with the bourbon coming through in the mid-palate and staying though the end of the sip and aftertaste. Leaves a stickiness on the lips. The body is full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. 2019 was a phenomenal year for this one, and while the marshmallow has faded slightly, it's still amazing. Even though the bourbon is present, you'd never guess this is 14.5%. Drinks closer to 10%. 5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #10 2019 vintage Coffee galore in the aroma along with evidence of the bourbon barrel aging. Taste has huge coffee, followed by a nice noticeable and flavorful bourbon and finishing with oak. The body is full with lower carbonation. This is my absolute favorite coffee stout. 2019 was by far the best of the 3 years they made it. It was so coffee forward that you couldn't tell at all that it was almost 15% abv. The coffee has faded some and more of the bourbon is coming through. I only have a few left total among the years they made them. I really hope they brew this again in the future. 5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #4 2020 vintage Bourbon, chocolatey, roasty aroma. Taste has tons of flavorful bourbon, nice oak presence and notes of chocolate. The body is full with appropriately low carbonation. Short abbreviated description, but don't kid yourself... this is a great beer. The brewery (Ellison) has really gone downhill in the past few years, and unfortunately they haven't released this since 2021, but I'll definitely enjoy what I have from them and hope they get their act together. The craft beer world is super oversaturated and unfortunately the ones that aren't up to snuff will go. Hopefully they fix their issues before it happens to them. Either way, 4.75/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #7 2020 vintage Marshmallow, bourbon and chocolate in the aroma. Taste has marshmallow first, transitioning into a flavorful bourbon, chocolate notes and a little bit of oak showing up in the finish. The body is full with a nice mouth coating mouthfeel and appropriately low carbonation. Simply delicious. The 2019 vintage is the best they've done so far, but every year has been phenomenal. 4.75/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #4 2018 vintage Bourbon, caramel and sweet malts in the aroma. Taste has bourbon first, followed by caramel, oak semisweet malts and a touch of bitterness on the back end that helps keep the sweetness in check. The body is medium-full with a smooth mouthfeel and lower carbonation. Still my favorite bourbon barrel aged barleywine...it's a shame I'm getting low on them. High 4.25/5

Advent Calendar Day #22 2019 vintage Bourbon, chocolate and vanilla in the aroma. Taste has bourbon, chocolate and vanilla. The bourbon is flavorful and somewhat strong with the chocolate and vanilla mellowing it out. The body is full with a smooth mouthfeel and an appropriately low amount of carbonation. My least favorite of the variants, but that's not to say it's bad. This is very tasty. Nice balance and tastes as advertised. 4.5/5

Advent Calendar Day #15 2019 vintage. Upon cracking the can, I'm immediately hit with a delicious coconut aroma. In the glass, I'm getting coconut, bourbon and a little bit of chocolate in the aroma. Taste has coconut, bourbon, oak and chocolate. Very tasty. The body is full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. This is phenomenal. Age has treated this one very well. I was expecting the coconut to be all but gone, but it's front and center. I really hope I have more in the cellar (I'm pretty sure I do). World class, 5/5

Advent Calendar Day #10 2018 vintage. Chocolate, marshmallow and bourbon in the aroma. Taste has marshmallow first, followed by chocolate, bourbon and oak. The aroma had me a bit worried since the marshmallow wasn't super strong, but it's definitely in the flavor. A bit boozy at 14.5%, but not distractingly so. The marshmallow and bourbon linger in the aftertaste. The body is full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. The bite from the bourbon helps keep the sweetness of the marshmallow in check, making for a great experience. This was the very first year they made this beer, for either their 3rd or 4th anniversary party (I don't remember). They've released it every year since and it's always one of the best. While the 2019 vintage was out of this world delicious, this is still holding on very well. High 4.5/5

Advent Calendar Day #8 2019 vintage Hazelnut, bourbon and chocolate with just a little bit of vanilla in the aroma. Taste has bourbon, chocolate, hazelnut and vanilla. The balance is pretty good with nothing really standing out more than anything else. The body is medium-full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. For a hazelnut beer, I always come back to this one. Hazelnut isn't my favorite flavor (though I love the aroma), but with the addition of chocolate and vanilla, this becomes so much more. Throw it in a bourbon barrel and it's a damn fine beer. 4.25/5
