This Dubbel ale is from Atlanta and came recommended. Hope they are right.
Color is that of a muddy river, murky with traces of yellow around the perimeter. Sweet fruit aroma that is more of a ripe fig. Soft texture in the beginning and then turns crisp. Flavor brings white grape wine, ripe figs and an earthy oak barrel. Finish adds a little saltiness to the back of the tongue and ends with a sweet dryness.
I'm enjoying this beer in a strange dark fruit way. I can only enjoy this as a stand alone drink because I can't think of anything that would pair with this dominating flavor.

First Duo in forever because Ryan's on a serious diet. Sure have missed it.
Heavy and thick head, tan in color. Strong aroma of licorice and dark fruit spice. First thing you notice is how soft it is. Gentle and creamy. Spice, dark fruit, probably figs. A natural molasses sweetness envelops the overall flavor. Late in the middle, a very faint char arrives. Finish continues the robust flavor with the addition of some bitterness from hops that lingers for a continued presence.
Overall, a very enjoyable Stout that hides the 9.7% behind a mountain of flavor.
