Lovely Texas Beer!

Still at our annual SOTS reunion but the beer competition is over. Surprised no one entered this Texas Shiner beer. A raspberry Shandy. Like most Shandy's, it's not a complicated beer. Could smell the raspberries as I poured it into the glass. It's light, raspberry fruit forward, and refreshing. But it's just a little too sweet for a hot day outside. Would have been much better if it could have been a little more subdued, not on flavor, but just the sugar content. I still like it.

We are at Whiskey River Ranch in Texas for our annual SOTS reunion. This is our 36th gathering on the Guadalupe River. This is entry number two into our best beer contest. Ryan and I are going to start today with a gentle beer. I have already rated one beer today. This is a Shiner Shandy that neither of us have ever enjoyed before. Plenty of epervessnce. Flavor is amazing. The mango aroma transferred straight into the body of the beer along with a balanced combination with the lemon. Nothing artificial on this mango flavor. Like they use fresh squeezed juice. Fell off a little on the finish as it warms. Should always be enjoyed cold. But this is a very good shandy, one of the best I've ever had.
