Last night in Texas, trying a few beers before we go. Dark brown, opaque, modest head that's thin but lasts. Flavor has roasted, earthy malt, molasses and a dried dark fruit, maybe dates. The ending has a more intense roast, close to char, turns dry and develops a black pepper burn. The sweet molasses roasted with the malt created a bark or woodsy taste. Different but not appealing.

At Whiskey River Ranch after another great day on the water. Started with an incredible high head. Sweet aroma. Mildly soft feel. Flavor has sweet caramel combining with a background of raw molasses. Finish turns a little dry. This is an enjoyable brown ale that could be served by itself or with dinner. Nice.

On the party boat on Canyon Lake Texas. Having a San Antonio beer. Bowie Bock is perfectly named. Sweet Amber malt, a little rustic and roasted quality. Soft and smooth texture. Sweetness continues through the finish. Very drinkable. I like it.

Day three of SOTS 31. Enjoying more country cooking, guitar playing, lots of singing, and a few beers. Having this out of the can. Gentle malt flavor. Soft texture. Carbonation shows during the finish. Very drinkable.
