In Houston with family having another nice mild beer. A 2020 limited edition 10.4 percent Imperial Stout from Buffalo Bayou Brewery. Aroma of deep sweet malt. Black color. Taste is strong. Chared malt, a strong hop bitterness. I can't get past the bitter aspect of this beer. It's smooth, well balanced, but too hop forward for me.

Still in Texas having a Buffalo Bayou porter with my daughter and son-in-law. Not much head, rich aroma of chocolate and vanilla. Texture is soft but becomes crisp and bitter on the end. Taste of raw dark chocolate that turns into charred malt. A strong dark roasted coffee effortlessly blends with a light background of vanilla. Good Porter.

Enjoying my last day in Texas before going home. Football Sunday is always fun and trying a few new beers. This one from a great Houston brewery, Buffalo Bayou. Deep amber color, has some haze to it. Not a lot of head. Aroma brings forth chili peppers, no getting past it. Has some sweetness like raisins. Flavor immediately has dark berries. A mixture of raspberries and blackberries is in the forefront. This flavor continues with the addition of a peppery chili that has a bit of a bite to it. Finish adds more heat to the chili and aging it on maple gives it a touch of a earthy wood quality. Fancy bottle, fancy price, and a fancy beer. This is really good stuff.

Made the drive to San Antonio to Whiskey River Ranch to be with more family. Having a Buffalo Bayou Brewing beer to share. The head is totally pink. Hazy with red/purple color. Has a distinct blueberry 🫐 aroma. Texture is light. As soon as it enters your mouth, a blast of tart blueberries combines with the blonde ale. Separate and balanced nicely. Slides smoothly into a delicious finish. One of the best blueberry beers I've had.

One of my favorite Houston breweries Buffalo Bayou. Brought this back from Texas. Enjoying it as a Duo with my son-in-law. Expectations are high. Pours to a very deep yellow with just a little orange. Dark for a blonde. Short head that disappears. Strong aroma of peanut butter. Medium texture. Flavor is coffee and little else. It's not a good French roast, more like a day-old, lightly bitter coffee. Finish brings faintly bitter-sweet peanut butter, but definitely in the background. This is actually a decent beer but expectations from this brewery are exceedingly high. Plus they are proud of their beers price wise. Great brewery to visit and I've had some great beers from them, but this one's just okay.

Enjoying this as a Duo with my son-in-law in Houston. Watching Alabama start the season off right. Brought this back as a red waxed top excellent beer from Buffalo Bayou in Houston. Been saving this a long time with very high expectations. Faint chocolate aroma. Very moderate head. Medium thick head that is strongly semi-sweet with strong overtones of cherries. Has an earthy essence that ends with a semi sweet raw bitterness. I know my expectations were too high. I have been to this brewery and it is fantastic. How I was hoping this was going to be a 5.0 but sadly it's going to be just a bit below that.

In Houston with my daughter and son-in-law enjoying a Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company IPA. Medium high head, not very thick and dissipating. Crystal clear medium dark yellow. Aroma of citrus with mango notes. Flavor is the same, strong mango toward the middle and finish. Hoppy bitterness continues through a lasting finish. This is a good beer with very good flavor. The bitterness level is a little high for my taste which results in a little lower rating.
