My first day at Whiskey River Ranch and having a great evening with family. My niece and I are going to Duo this Texas beer with my son-in-law in Houston. So much fun.
Expectations are low for this beer. I've only had a few golden stouts and have not enjoyed any. Medium head, pours with a crystal clear deep golden yellow color. Rich and heavy aroma of Sweet Maple and coffee. Soft creamy texture. Actually feels like a stout. Sweet Maple appears first followed by mild breakfast coffee and some gentle toasted nuts toward the finish. Also has a blanket of vanilla which smooths all the flavors together. Finish adds just a trace of bitterness. Overall probably the best golden Stout I've experienced yet.

So excited to be at Whiskey River Ranch as family comes rolling in. This will be a triple taste and a duo with the son-in-law in Houston. Awesome!
Pours a creamy brown color. Aroma is deep chocolate with peppers. Great beginning. Smooth and creamy texture. Velvet in the mouth. Milk chocolate with cinnamon and just a modest amount of chili pepper. Flavor continues without interruption throughout the finish.
This is not a complicated beer. From the aroma to the beginning and straight through the finish it is simple and delicious. Milk chocolate with cinnamon and peppers. Simple. Delicious, definitely.

Having a great time with family and friends on the Guadalupe River. 32nd SOTS Reunion is underway.
Mild citrus aroma. Citrus aroma, mostly grapefruit, dry finish. I need more sunscreen.

Enjoying another Texas beer while Duo with my son-in-law in Houston. Trying to get the Astros another win. Second Devour beer from 3 Nations Brewing this evening, the last one was excellent. This is my first imperial golden stout.
Color is a beautiful deep red amber, completely clear. Not a lot of head. Nice aroma of mild coffee and vanilla. Light and smooth texture. Followed by a gentle vanilla, caramel, and cold brew coffee. Has a mild sweetness with some gentle honey characteristics. Finish brings a small amount of dryness to all the previous flavors.
The alcohol was well hidden for an imperial stout and all the flavors were excellent. Enjoyed this very much.

Watching the Astros with my son-in-law that's in Houston. Having a Duo beer during the game, each with the same beer doing our reviews.
Good old Texas Imperial milk Stout, dark brown with a full high chocolate head, like pie meringue. Aroma of dark chocolate and caramel. Soft texture but not as heavy as I was expecting. A blend of flavors, bittersweet dark chocolate, vanilla, toffee. All are equally balanced and easily identifiable. As it slides into the finish, it adds the roasted coffee and ends with the smallest amount of bitter.
This was a surprisingly affordable beer. Would have been worth twice the price.

Another beer that I brought back from Texas. Brewed in Carrollton Texas. Been looking forward to this one.
Began with a dark chestnut head but dissipated quickly. Texture is on the heavy side, very creamy. Flavor has an abundance of sweet dark chocolate. Strong toffee with notes of vanilla round out this beer. Did not detect the caramel. Only in the finish was there a hint of roasted coffee, but very subtle.
This is the kind of dessert stout that I enjoy very much. On my next trip to Texas I'll try to find more of this.
