Closing the weekend with an American Wild Ale. 2020 vintage.
The beer wears a fully misty, deep burgundy gown. Looks fateful. Rushed carbonation unleashes a small-bubbled pink head that surpasses one finger and melts away completely to flat still.
The scent is abundantly vinous. Is this beer or wine in the first place? I receive ample dry red wine, soaked barrel nuances and sour purple grape.
Basically, the same enormous red wine punch slams my tastebuds big time. Wild yeast is a bit difficult to identify since I'm looking for a Senne version which is not the case here. Ample purple grape shakes hands with wet soaked oak barrel. Silent proposals of sour apple and cranberry lie in the shadows on the wheaty bed.
The body is light-medium to medium. The finish loses most of the fruity elements except purple grape. Basically, the lofty red wine and oak barrel form the end entirely.
The mouthfeel is medium, incredibly vinous, even to the extent that it's rather unbeery. It's also tart, puckering, dry and drying as well as elegant. The mouthfeel is also very juicy, deep, rich, modestly funky and undoubtedly barrel aged. Very enjoyable slow sipper whose weak link is complexity – a more diversified supply would certainly guarantee a status of a masterpiece.
