Miellyttävän pehmeä lambicin aromi. Sokerointi taittaa happamuuden, mutta yhtään liian makea tämä ei ole. Ilahduttavasti mallaskin kurkistaa jälkimaussa.

Delirium Café, Brussels. A classic in its own. The restaurant is composed of many separate restaurants that are more or less interlinked to each other. Delirium actually occupies the entire alley, so it's a huge complex in total -- called Delirium Village.
The restaurant brags about having a Guinness World Record of the number of beers: in 2004, the restaurant had 2004 different beers. Now the number has exceeded 3000 and more is coming.
There's a list of beers in the restaurant, it's more than 170 pages long. Of course, there are ads and lots of pictures in it.
The reason I navigated to Delirium was that I wanted to have a rare Cantillon. Then a disappointment slapped on my face: out of eight Cantillons, only three were available. Of course those ones that you could get in many other place, as well. Damn. My plans were guided to a new direction.
Confusion...
I ended up with a Girardin Faro that I hadn't tasted before. It's by no means a rarity, but what to do. Here we go.
Transparent, copper beer with abrupt, hasty carbonation unleashes a thick, creamy head, both for the color and texture, that exceeds one finger. The foamy mattress loses air very slowly to a molten whipped-creamy layer wafting on the surface. The retreating froth leaves thick horizontal patterns on the glass.
The nose receives moderate medium-sweet apple juice but otherwise the fragrance is totally numb. Not very promising.
The taste puts forward thin combination of light-sour apple nectar and a bit of green grapes with rind. I also find a tiny injection of bitter hops, faint rowanberry and truly distant spruce. A vinous suggestion can be detected. I expected sugar as this is a Faro, it never came though. The direction is towards better.
The light-bodied beer ends with light-hoppy, light-sour fruit, most predominantly apple, grape, a little bit of rowanberry and faint cranberry. The hops are rather fruity and remotely coniferous. The aftertaste makes itself felt over medium duration.
The mouthfeel is light as well as confusing as it's both slightly crisp and a tad juicy at the same time. The mouthfeel is, furthermore, extremely thinly vinous.
One more thing about Delirium Café: it's not a peaceful beer lover's paradise, despite the number of beers it may have, but a very loud music pub. Later in the evening, you might think you're in a night club. Whoaah... Sorry for all the Delirium fans but I'll head next time elsewhere. Cheers!

Korkki korkki. Tynnyreihin pantu vuodesta 1882 vihreän etiketin informaatioon tukeutuen.
Meripihkan värinen, joka päälle asettuu lasiin pitsiä jättäen sentin vaahtokerros. Marjaisa tuoksu.
Maistuu karhunmarja, tummempi maku tupakkaa, ei juurikaan hapan (vaikka siis tietenkin on), viinimäinen kiehkura nousee sieraimiin.

Sokeri maistuu päälimmäisenä. Ei itselle toimi.

Makea, yllättän mieto, aavistus aprikoosia ja "pommacin" makua.

Un très bon faro, rien à redire.
