I decided to make my own beer advent calendar with only barrel aged beers. Each day a random barrel aged beer, most of which spent some time in the cellar. Here it goes...
Barrel Aged Advent Calendar beer Day 1
Bourbon, brown sugar and light coffee in the aroma. Taste has bourbon, brown sugar and coffee, just like in the aroma. Taste has faded a bit, but it's still a solid brown ale. Coffee in the aftertaste. Medium body with a lower amount of carbonation. Definitely much better fresh, but still very tasty. High 3.75/5

Coffee, bourbon, vanilla, caramel and maybe a hint of brown sugar in the aroma. Some nuttiness as well. Taste has bourbon first, followed by coffee, vanilla, oak, brown sugar and some nuttiness. Some caramel shows up in the mid-palate and back end. The coffee and brown sugar lingers into the aftertaste. Medium-thin body with a medium-low carbonation. More body would help to elevate this beer higher, but the flavors help make up for it, being both bold and very well balanced. Nice coffee, flavorful bourbon, delicious additional flavors, well made. One of my favorite brown ales for sure. 4.25/5

Bourbon and caramel hit first in the aroma. Maybe some brown sugar. I'm getting much of the same, with the caramel being more prominent than the bourbon. Brown sugar still follows. Coffee shows up in the taste as well. This is really good. Bourbon flavor without a super high abv, yet with a higher medium mouthfeel. Well balanced, as no one flavor dominates this beer. One of the better brown ales I've had. Griffin Claw rarely disappoints. Definitely worth a try. 4.25/5

Sweet smell. Really good brown. Some coffee in this, mostly towards the mid-palate and back end. Sweet caramel. Very tasty brown ale. 3.75/5

Nicely balanced beer with the right amount of Bourbon and coffee flavors.
