Dragon's Milk Reserve: Coconut Rum
11.0% Imperial Stout
Coconut complements the roasted chocolate flavor of Dragon's Milk, coaxing flavors that are reminiscent of lazy summer days. Rum barrels add a tropical character.

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #18
My face lit up when I opened the bag and saw the bottle cap. I instantly knew it was this one. This is the first craft beer I absolutely loved when I was still fairly new to craft beer. This is sadly my last bottle, but all good things must come to an end.
Rum and faint coconut in the aroma. Taste has subtle, flavorful rum first, immediately followed by coconut. A little bit of oak shows up in the finish. Leaves a stickiness on the lips after each sip.
The body is medium-full with a very smooth mouthfeel and an appropriately lower amount of carbonation.
I still love this beer. Hopefully they decide to brew this again at some point and hopefully it'll be just as good as it was fresh (bottled 9-30-2016). Some of the flavor has faded a bit, but that was expected. High 4.5/5

I'm super excited about this one. Coconut and rum in the aroma. Taste has a perfect blend of coconut and rum. The first craft beer I ever loved and I still love it. High 4.75/5

Aged for a year. I'm getting coconut on the nose... nothing else. Smells good. Still fairly cold. Rum might not be present in the aroma, but it sure is in the taste. Next, I'm getting chocolate and a hint of coffee. Surprisingly, the coconut is only present on the back end and in the after taste, despite being so prominent in the aroma. I'll let this warm some more and add to this review. After warming up some more, still only getting coconut in the aroma. Rum has mellowed out a bit in the taste. Chocolate seems more intense, but the coffee is still pretty faint. Coconut still comes in at the end. This is a really well balanced beer. I have one more bottle. We'll see what another year or two will do to it. 4.5/5
