Équinoxe du Printemps Bourbon (2025), Canada

A nightcap. 2025 vintage. Scotch Ale. Bourbon barrel aged. An interesting combination but why not? The flashlight test reveals that the beer is transparent. The color is chestnut brown, that is red hued. The carbonation is average. A limited beige head falls short of one finger and dissipates fast to a normal lace ring on the top. Bourbon is identifiable in the fragrance. Escorts are vanilla and caramel. A suggestion of toffee seals the package. The taste offers relatively ample Bourbon. A medley of caramel, toffee, date and vanilla. The impression is, first, soft, then, alcoholic. The flavor cocktail is intriguing, not super complex and as if marginally immature. The body is medium-full to full. The tail waves with alcoholic and Bourbonic spectrums. A bit raw. The sensation is medium-full to full, smooth, intense, deep, lip-glueing and barrel aged. Warming and a tad alcoholic, as well. BBA surely adds intensity and elements to the beer but I'm not convinced that the whole entity is superior to an unbarreled version.
