"it's baltic out", is a popular turn of phrase in Ireland, said when the weather is particularly harsh. Nonetheless, I opted to have this baltic porter at room temperature. The pour from the can was uneventful but provided a nice jet black body with a faint, chocolate coloured hue around the edges, all topped with one finger of off white foam. Scents of black chocolate, black coffee, black treacle and some biscuit, faintly sweet but mostly bitter. Moutheel is medium bodied, foamy at first with faint carbonation but about half way through, both of these had faded to little or nothing. Taste starts sweet with the biscuit and chocolate before the coffee rolls in to counter. With the coffee comes a new profile, unclear at first but is found to be raisin, melding with the coffee to create a harmony of the bitter and sweet. A nice porter, nothing much new, but solid and reliable.
