Nightcap. End of weekend. Fortunately, next week is a vacation. Days full of renovation ahead... 🪚📐🔨
Now the beer. A peat smoked IS. Muddy black. Limited carbonation. A tawny velvety head falls short of two fingers and declines soon to a neat lace ring.
Peat, smoke, roasted malt and licorice enter my nose first. Molasses and a hint of brown sugar complete the olfactory journey.
Peat, licorice root, smoked malt, soot, brown sugar, sweet dough, biscuit and remote plum. That's the gustatory universe of this beer. A relatively rich series of components.
The body is medium to medium-full. However, I expected more since this clocks 12 %. The finish releases part of the initial sweetness and lifts the smoky peatiness upward.
Feels medium-full, deep, intense, relatively rich, smoky and lip-glueing. Tasty but nothing phenomenal at this strength level.
