Found a new Brewery in Birmingham Alabama. Of course I'm going to try their pastry Stout first. At 10 1/2%, I'm hoping for a lot of flavor. Never even heard of this place. Texture has a light creaminess to it, after a moment turns a bit dry. First thing I get is a quick natural almond extract flavor. Not the refined stuff that you normally find in the store. Has a touch of a medicine flavor which makes me suspect that it's artificial. The malt isn't giving me any distinguishing flavors either. Even the 10 1/2% isn't apparent. Being a new place I was hoping to give them a good rating but it just doesn't deserve it.
