Haven't had a flavoured stout in a while and Kinnegar are usually reliable.
Poured very well and left a picturesque black body with a chocolate brown hue and a nice two fingers of chocolate brown foam with good retention.
Aromas are pretty firm, lots of roasted coffee with a sweet nuttiness, and lots of bitter chocolate with some roasted barley in between it all.
Mouthfeel is very average, a little dull even. It is a light bodied stout, surprisingly light for 7% and there is a mild foaminess that isn't particularly noteworthy.
Taste is pleasant is not a little basic. It starts sweet, but not too sweet, a great balance of the roasted coffee and it's bitterness leading into the bitter chocolate before the sweetness of the chocolate rounds it all smoothly. A mild nuttiness, with carries the faintest hint of salt, surfaces a little at the end and rides out the aftertaste.
Compared to Kinnegars usual efforts this is a little disappointing, but is still a better offering than most flavoured stouts.
