Advent Calendar Beer #️⃣6️⃣. A dark delicacy. I hope. Colors impenetrable, pitch black. The carbonation hides the light under the bushel. A subdued fawn lace ring emerges on the top and retreats to the sides.
Fruit wine and barrel notes open the game in the scent. Fresh plum, purple grape, caramel and burned sugar join the scene to show what they can do. Intensive package for sure.
Fruit wine is extraordinarily ample on the tongue. Soaked barrel is copious, too. Plum, purple grape, gooseberry, dark malt, a bit of dark caramel and a twist of brown sugar. Somewhat later, I start receiving vanilla, which is a welcome addition to the cocktail. Overall, this could be interesting but the wine segment in the gustatory profile is way too dominant – this is difficult to even recognize as an Imperial Stout.
The body is full but not overwhelmingly robust. Just full. The aftertaste portrays the same Madeira as before. Keeps the tastebuds alerted for a long time.
The mouthfeel is intense, vinous, barrel aged, relatively deep, drying and mouthcoating. 'Balanced' is not something I could use in this case but I appreciate the innovativeness.
