Advent Calendar Beer #️⃣4️⃣. A Strong Ale with 10.5 % gives me goosebumps. There are a million and one ways in which this beer can fail. Let me see. The beer is veiled in transparent, brass brown. A creamy head reveals minuscule bubbles and remains well below half a finger. Relatively weakly developed. A neat lace ring adorns the surface for astonishingly long. I'm a bit reserved to inhale this. For no reason! Toffee, caramel, fig and raisin dance to the tune of my tastebuds. Surprisingly sweet malt packed in a dry fruity setup. Lovely! The gustatory provision is also appealing: dried plum, raisin, caramel malt and very faint grassy hops. Some sweeter, more intriguing elements, unfortunately, wave for goodbye already in the air. The body is not particularly robust. Maybe somewhere between medium and medium-full. Could and should be bigger at this level of strength. Ends like it starts. Feels reasonably thick, viscous, medium-full and a bit sticky. Somewhat Barleywineish. It has its moments but 8 % could definitely yield the same.
