Advent Calendar Beer #️⃣1️⃣. Yes! It is the time of the year! Bright, jet black beer whose carbonation is relatively oppressed builds a dense cappuccino-colored head that falls short of one finger. The foamy cap shrinks rushedly to a mediocre lace ring on the top. The glass is otherwise left intact. Marginally sweet-leaning coffee as if lactose seasoned merges with cream and licorice in the scent. Additionally, I pick a suggestion of brandy in the air even though the beer isn't barrel aged in my understanding. Coffee wins the race to the tongue. First, it's sweet and sugared but quickly turns modestly bitter. Licorice root joins the coffee moment. I can still find remote brandy for some reason. But no barrel notes though. The malty baseline supports the cocktail. The body is medium-full to full. Barely the minimum. Anything less would disturb the enjoyment. The coffee is geared more bitter and distinctly roasted in the end. A dry hoppy injection is a latecomer to the concoction. The mouthfeel is mellow, medium-strong, lip-glueing, mouthcoating as well as marginally roasty. Leaves a dry feeling behind. Not bad albeit not a masterpiece either. This strength should give deeper and richer nuances, so this is a rather basic piece as such.
