Turbid, deep orange beer looks like mango flesh. The carbonation is restrained. A white dense moussy head forms on the top at two fingers' height. The decoration melts quickly to a neat ring in the sides.
Apricot is ample in the fragrance. Sourness is limited. Coconut features beautifully in the shadows, not bold but not timid either. Is there lactose in this beer? [Checking the ingredients...] Yes, there is!
Apricot is relatively powerful also on the tongue. And again, the sourness remains like halfway only. Lactose softens the edges dramatically. Coconut is oppressed but fills the gap neatly.
The light-bodied beer ends with the same medley as before. Brother bought a coconut, he bought it for a dime; sister had an apricot, she traded it for a lime. She put the lime in the aftertaste, she drank 'em bot' up.
The mouthfeel is light, juicy, even a tad nectar-like and significantly pulpy. Sounds pretty attractive, right? However, on the other hand, tartness is merely limited, and I can't call this puckering at all. Acidity is equally weak.
I understand – or I think I understand – the difference between a Fruited Sour and a Smoothie Sour. Fruited Sours can be puckering but Smoothie Sours are supposed to be soft. And smooth. That's what this beer is. Therefore, this would be "characterless" as a Fruited Sour but obviously not as a Smoothie Sour.
