Masterblend Special Batch, Belgium

Implementable, dark maroon beer with impatient carbonation releases a beige moussy head that covers the surface up to half a finger's level. The retention seems to be extraordinarily long since after I started tasting this, I enjoyed two rounds of sauna and swimming, and only then returned to this beer, and a dense lacing still adorns the top. The scent is truly exceptional: I expected a Barley Wine since this is a BW. Instead, I get red wine, foeder, leather, a hint of cellar and purple grape in the forefront. Only thereafter do I spot those nuances that I anticipated in the beginning, such as plum, syrup and raisin, all in tiny quantities only. Really nice and certainly unexpected. The tongue enjoys a medley of sweet Barley Wine flavors and a red wine barrel aged Flanders Red. The components include dry round red wine, soft barrel notes, dark plum, plum skin, raisin, syrup, caramel fudge as well as faint cacao nibs. Multifaceted, surprisingly soft and innovative. The body is full. The end gives the familiar cocktail of BW and Flanders Red flavors, boosted by an alcoholic slam. They call it hookin' up, I call it masterblend; they try to get it, I already got it in; look at the atmosphere that the aftertaste's sittin' in; this ain't no mix. The mouthfeel is full, intense, mellow, strongly vinous, barrel-aged, dry, complex, rich and medium-deep. It's also alcoholic, starting from modest and ending to intensive in the end, as well as marginally warming. Innovative piece for sure!
