Sparkle ✨ is a new brewery to me. This is a Riwaka hopped NEIPA. Let's see.
The appearance strikes me with adoration: beautiful, milky warm yellow. Very balmy. The carbonation is somewhat wild as I can observe a tall creamy head reaching five fingers. The can doesn't have any date on it but I have another beer from this same brewery and it was canned 4–5 months ago (I'm too lazy to check it now). The foamy crown shrinks fast to a billowy lacing on the sides. Small traces are left on the glass.
Oooh, the scent is tropical. Peach, pink grapefruit, pineapple, a bit of white guava and distant lychee are my takeaway components. Hoppiness hovers in the air, I'm anticipating hop burn on the tongue when I get there. Furthermore, the fragrance gives an idea of upcoming creaminess, which is delightful, of course.
And how does it taste then? Well, the first encounter is a medley of copious hoppiness and a pleasant tropical character. Very fruity. Pineapple is number one here. Grapefruit and pink grapefruit, too. Smaller injections of guava, passionfruit and a tiny dash of crowberry follow behind. Biscuit in the maltbill. The creaminess is detectable, yet it declines considerably from the scent. Hop burn? Not really. Well, maybe a whisper...
The body is light-medium. Well placed at 6 %. The end is relatively similar to the actual taste but with elevated citruses.
The mouthfeel is light-medium, juicy, tropical and refreshing. It's pulpy but also marginally pithy. Smooth and effervescent. I don't know how the age has affected the effervescence but the flavors are still undisturbed. A tasty piece!
