Congratulations to my daughter on her birthday. She'll join Ryan and I on this Duo. Another Boulevard limited release beer. They are always really good. This one is unique in that it is aged in apple Brandy barrels. At 15% this should be unique. Dark brown but not totally opaque. Modest deep tan head that receded fairly quickly. Aroma, alcohol apparent along with spices and wine. First sip conveys that this is going to be a complex beer. Winter spices of cinnamon and nutmeg, the alcohol has a unique flavor from the Apple Brandy Barrel. The sweet wine flavor stays mostly in the background but isn't hiding. It immediately warms the back of the throat while the 15% is surprisingly not overwhelming. As it goes into the finish I get a roasted toffee and a dryness appears. Boulevard comes through again. I can't overemphasize how impressed I have become with this Brewery with their limited release series. Everyone of them has been fantastic. I've had a few reviews now and this one is totally unique. Can't compare it to any other beer I've ever had. The spices, the alcohol level in apple Brandy barrels, the balance they achieved were all different from any other beer. Excellent, well done, quickly becoming the number one Brewery on my bucket list.
