This is definitely a very good weizen, it certainly has the typical hit of hefeweizen but seems to be better attuned to the climate of the northeast than some of the ones from Germany. While I adore many hefeweizen, I find they don’t travel too well and lose a little something when drank here.
The beer has a typical hoppy smell and hit on the first taste and then a bready malty finish. The colouring is orange brown when in the glass and the haze of the yeast is visible. Considering this was brewed in rural Northumbria, it could be easily mistaken for a beer brewed in rural Bavaria. I’m definitely a fan of this and would be interested to see the brewery make a more regular hefeweizen.
