A long weekend ahead. A toast for that. A Moscatel barrel aged Saison doesn't sound like an everyday drink, does it? The tint looks limpid, deep amber. Fairly fizzy carbonation unlocks a creamy head that exceeds one finger and dissolves fast to a thin amorphous lace ring on the surface. An interesting scent. Not sure if it's attractive but at least it's uncommon. I pick hefty wheat malt, biscuit, orange peel, dried apricot, apricot jam, remote white grape mash and soaked oak barrel. A bit offensive but, on the other hand, somewhat mature. The taste is arrogant. I can't recommend this to babymouths. Alcohol can't be missed here, it's even slightly aggressive. Intensive white wine barrel notes keep the tastebuds in an alert mode. Wheat malt, fermented orange peel, pine resin, dried apricot, grass and modest graham cracker complete the list of elements. I didn't first fall for this but the more I drink this, the better it gets. The body is medium-full to full. The finish turns even tangy with ample white wine barrel notes and resinous hops. Wheat malt is medium-musty but not entirely messy though. A long tail waves behind. The mouthfeel is intense, moderately boozy, deep, barrel aged and slightly tangy. Interestingly enough, this is not vinous at all. Challenging. I do like it anyway.
