Friday 👏🏻 My first weekend beer sounds interesting: a honey chamomile Saison. A Saison works nicely in this spring context because tomorrow it's officially summer.
The appearance is semicloudy gold. The extroverted carbonation builds a frothy head that exceeds two fingers. The retention isn't particularly long-lasting but a decent lace ring still adorns the top much later.
The honey–chamomile cocktail is fairly easy to recognize when you know what to look for. Honey can surely be identified even without knowing but the floral note is difficult and can easily be confused with several flowers. A bit lemony undertone mixes with discreet wheat malt and a drop of tangerine.
Tastewise, the beer confirms the earlier rule: honey and chamomile tango like never before. Interesting. On one hand, a bit herb-tea-like, on the other, it leaves a taste of a honey coated waffle in the mouth. The wheaty backbone isn't that distinct now.
The body is light. Could be marginally bigger but this is alright. The end gives first a clear citrusy vibe, especially lemony, but turns quickly to the familiar honey–chamomile medley. Take a sip of some of this bitches brew; so intoxicating, this is you; as a rhythm takes us for a ride, I've got the keys to unlock the song inside; oh but first, I put my jazz hands, jazz hands all over your body, baby.
The mouthfeel is light, herbal, floral and spring-like. Rather refreshing actually. Unique. Me likes. 💛
