Executed perfectly, this beer hits all the notes of raw cocoa, tobacco, pine and citrus. It’s a powerful and robustly hopped beer that is thirst quenching when served cool, although I do like the shifting flavour profile as it warms. If you like your black IPAs like an old school Cascadian dark ale then this is right up your street and given the origins of CDAs in the early US craft beer scene I wouldn’t be surprised if they drew their inspiration from the same source (Barkley Perkins export porters).
