Sugarloaf 4.3%, Wicklow Wolf Brewing, Ireland
10 notes
3.2
Sugarloaf
4.3% New England IPA / Hazy IPA
Juicy IPA inspired by the Great Sugarloaf Mountain in Wicklow. Sugarloaf is dry hopped with a massive amount of juice forward hops, bursting with tropical, citrus and stone fruit flavours and aromas. This hazy IPA has a creamy mouthfeel with low bitterness that allows the hops to shine.

Tämä versio on 4,3 prosenttisen kepeää ja olisin pitänyt etukäteen etiketin juicyä lähinnä vitsinä, mutta kyllä tähän mangoista mehuisuutta on yllättävästi saatu tarttumaan. Shortly in English: This is 4,3% version and based on that I would have said that juicy my ass. Surprisingly they’ve got mango to the taste quite well.

Average pour from the can, a little lack luster even. The body is golden yellow with a hazy, orange hue and a half finger of white foam that ha only moderate retention. Aromas of citrus, mild lemon and a decent orange hit too. Lots of stoenfruit, distinct apricot in particular and the trademark pine resin at the end. Mouthfeel is a little lighter than I would like, or at least lighter than I expected based on the beers appearance. Basic levels of carbonation and foam with the beer turning flat remarkably quick. (for the record I stored it upright in the fridge and it didn't foam up when I opened it so I'm not to blame here!) Taste is a little bit more reasonable, the pine resin takes the lead, not sure if this is becusse the flavours are so diluted however. Mild biscuit malt is present in tiny amount then drowned out by a creamy, oat taste. The stoenfruit quickly rolls in and dominates everything else but passes just as quick and leaves a watery taste behind. I suppose they have to keep churning them out to stay 'relevant' but this was aet down.

This can said 4,3%, not 5,0%. It was too bland for my taste.
