Saint Nicholas arrived in The Netherlands today, highly anticipated by little children all over the country. Between now and December 5th, Sinterklaas Eve, they can put their shoe at the fireplace before bedtime with a little snack for Sinterklaas' horse and expect a little gift in their shoe in the morning.
A popular and traditional gift is a chocolate letter, usually your initial. This beer has added chocolate nips, allegedly Aldi milk chocolate letter. It is supposedly a colab between Steenbrugge and De Molen. Supposedly, since they are both part of Swinkels Family Brewers (Bavaria), which also happens to be the brewer of all Aldi Netherlands beers including Schultenbräu. As I told here before, it took me a while to realise that Steenbrugge is not an Aldi house brand (outside of the Netherlands).
About the beer:
A definite and clear aroma of milk chocolate. It pours very dark and murky with a big, persistent and beautiful brownish head.
The taste is smooth and this milk chocolate aroma also tingles the taste buds. Gimmicky as it may be, this is actually a pretty nice beer.
Will I buy again? Probably not. Is it any good? Definitely!
