Another Martin House limited edition double can box. A barrel-aged thin mint stout. Their boxes are always good so expectations are high.
Strong mint aroma while still in the can. Poured heavy, not much head. Aroma is intense mint and small traces of alcohol. Flavor is overwhelming. Extreme peppermint that practically burns the inside of the mouth with a menthol coating. So intense it covers the 11.6% alcohol. Only towards the finish does milk chocolate reveal itself. But the tingling sensation and the fumes that travel up the nasal cavity are simply two pronounced and invading. I can't even finish this beer even though I'm trying. It would have been much better if they had only used maybe 1/3 of the mint flavoring that's in this beer.
Very disappointed. The first bad Martin House box.
