The last one for now. A Sherry cask matured Wild Ale. 2021 vintage.
Pours equally turbid brown. Looks like bad Sahti. Maybe that's exactly the reason why I like this even without tasting. A big-bubbled lace ring just visits the top and then rushes away like it had never been there.
The nose picks soft red wine components. A good amount of soaked oak barrel lingers in the air. Additionally, I'm getting dark plum, a bit of raisin, purple grape for sure and both some blackberry and raspberry. Beautifully fruity and heavily vinous.
The taste identity offers overwhelming red wine and its soaked barrel, loads of dark plum mash, plum skin, a suggestion of black cherry and blackberry. Wheat malt, again, makes itself heard.
The body is medium-full. The finish is short with the same elements as upfront: fruity, mashy, barrel aged, woody, very tart and puckering. It's also rather flat but intense. Deep, vinous and tannic. Attractive slow one but I would still welcome more layers.
