Proper Pour 2022
12.5% Imperial Stout
My bottle says 12.5%, but website states 13.8%. Proper Pour spent 6 months in Ruby Port barrels that had been used at a distillery to age rye whiskey for 3 months.

Very interesting Boulevard Brewing Company imperial Stout aged in both Bourbon barrel and port wine barrel. A gift from my son-in-law to enjoy watching the Gator Bowl. This thing poured the darkest brown head I have ever seen. Looks like syrup coming out of the bottle. Strong aroma, boozy alcohol up front, port wine mostly, heavy malt, sweet with ripe figs. Swirl the glass and it leaves a thick, heavy brown film. Texture has the consistency of honey, coats the mouth. Small sip produces an abundance of flavor. Dark fruit of moist prunes and a quick shot of alcohol from both wine and bourbon. Exceedingly sweet molasses and double dark malt. As the finish arrives, sweet alcohol continues to permeate up through the sinuses. Dark fruit takes on a more raisin quality. The heavy syrupy coating inside the mouth makes the finish continue for an exceedingly long time. So powerful of flavor, only small sips can be experienced which results in a very long and wonderful adventure for the taste buds. First time a beer has challenged for a 5.0 rating from the aroma alone. That first ship verified its quality and I have no way to reduce it from my highest rating.
