I don't know if the latest batch has been tweaked or if my tastes are changing but I thought that this beer was absolutely amazing the second time around. So simple but so complex at the same time with the wonderful Nelson Sauvin throwing flavours of gooseberry and other indescribable hints whilst the grain is always reminding you that you're drinking beer. Well impressed.

Pale straw and hazy with fast dispersion of its head. Smelling of dank hops yet fresh with grapefruit and gooseberry. I've had Nelson Sauvin before but never as a single hop and it's interesting by itself. Much like it's aroma it is dank with an odd savory note which you won't gleam from a whiff. It's soft with light body, light like it's wine counterpart Sauvignon Blanc and gooseberry is prominent which is typical of this New Zealand hop along with white grape hence the comparison to the famous kiwi varietal. The dankness is entwined with the savoury notes. I feel this hop is better in a blend with others as opposed to a solo venture. It's nice but it would be nicer with a boost of Citra or injection of tropics via Mosaic. If your a big fan of gooseberry then pick up a Nelson single hop & your in for a treat. Or if you've never had a beer with this hop included then you might want to try it unadulterated and appreciate what it could bring to a brew, like a NZ double team of Nelson and Motueka.
