Today is the end of Dry January. Cheers for that! 🍺 This month without alcohol went actually fast, both for other activities that have kept me busy and for very interesting non-alc beers that I ordered from OnderNulPuntVijf. If you are looking for non-alcoholic beers, you may wish to check out their selection. The beer pours clear, pale yellow. Lofty carbonation kicks out a clean white, dense moussy head that elevates up to two fingers. Long retention sustains a messy billowy lacing for quite some time and sprays the glass with sticky graffiti. The scent gives Belgiany elements: lemon zest, grassy hops and coriander seeds. I checked the label for ingredients, and it seems that there are no coriander seeds in the beer. So, I'm getting that nuance from something else. Wheat malt cushions the package softly. The taste descends a bit toward a lager-type of medley but maintains its original soft character. I'm picking grass, dry hops, velvety wheat malt, a pinch of water cracker, lemon pith and grapefruit peel. Coriander seeds are nowhere. Still, there's a remote Belgiany vibe somewhere, perhaps due to the yeast? The body is light. The finish is grassy and dry-hoppy, certainly also citrusy. Not much different from the actual taste offer. My designated driver, that's the aftertaste; and we're drivin' down dream street, the pedal to the floor; and we're headed for heaven's door. The mouthfeel is thin, velvety, smooth and faintly Belgiany. The beer portrays also some mellowness, which is more than welcome, of course. Gives me an inexplicable feeling of the upcoming spring. Solid piece! P.S. I still have a couple of non-alcs to enjoy, so maybe two more "dry" days until Friday?
