Kriek is always attractive. Sometimes they can be damn sweet and misguided but I trust this sample is right on the spot. Hey, it's Cantillon!
The color is cloudy burgundy. Carbonation is not particularly wild but a cute, cream-white, distantly pinkish head emerges on the top and elevates up to one finger. Retention is, again, astonishingly long. I can observe a thick, molten-ice-creamy head wafting on the top as if nothing would disturb it.
Cherry is powerful on the nose. Despite that, I can pick also cranberry, sour apple and an illusion of strawberry. I wonder why...
The tastebuds enjoy ample cherry mash, sour of course but not as sour as Nath. Very juicy. Additionally, I'm getting sour apple, distinct cranberry, rowanberry and, again, (yes!) a suggestion of strawberry. Wheat supports the baseline.
The body is light. The finish is cherry-rich, no question about it. A couple of other elements can also be observed but the cocktail tends to narrow down a bit from upfront. the aftertaste doesn't want to leave my taste receptors alone. Good. No need to.
The mouthfeel is light, juicy, tart and puckering. This has nothing vinous in it. Still, a bit Belgiany but surely not funky. Quaffable, rich in berries. Not sure if these tap versions after different from the bottled ones or is it just that I managed to pick the two Lambics from the tap list that are "less Lambicky" than the other Lambics are. Surely these are not matured.
