This rich, sultry brew showcases complex notes of biscuit, caramel, and chocolate with a velvety finish.

Hento suklaa ja paahde. Ei tarjoile yllätyksii, ehkä turhan simppeli.

Advent Calendar 2023, Day 5. It also has the honor to be my after-sauna refreshment.
The beer is dressed in an opaque, bright black gown. Carbonation is reasonable. The emerging head is shiny beige, like a Caribbean sand beach. The initial height is two fingers but the altitude declines fast to a thin lace ring.
The nose gets disappointed. Big time. Only a faint wisp of roasted malt. Slightly floury but significantly oppressed. Whaaat?
Hope the taste ameliorates from this. Let me sip. Mmmm, okay. I receive salty licorice, rye flour, raw chocolate and roasted malt. Faintly coffeeish, too. The improvement is dramatic but still can't reach the status of a masterpiece.
The body is light to light-medium. A bit substandard for the ABV. The licoricey component swells in the end while the rest of the package remains unchanged.
The mouthfeel is light, roasty, medium-strong, smooth and lip-glueing. Fairly standard American Porter although the hop profile is quite mild.
NOTE: The barcode suggests "Black Velvet Nitro Stout".

In Houston with family enjoying some more liquid happiness.
Very small head but comes back with only a small swirl. Faint aroma of some malt. This flavor presents sweet milk chocolate in a velvet texture. Caramel adds to the middle. Finish becomes a deep roasted malt, exposing a lasting bitterness.
Much better than I was expecting. Simple name does not do this justice.
