I'm not a huge fan of coconut and less a fan of pastry stout so I was reluctant with this. From the can the pour was straightforward, no foam, no drama. What remained was a jet black body with less than trace elements of Head. Scent is coconut, chocolate and a little vanilla in the mix. It's pleasant, the key here is that the coconut is not over beating or sickly sweet, or worse, synthetic. Mouthfeel is smooth with mild carbonation but remarkably thin considering the abv. It's easy to forget this is 11.9%! Taste is delicious, absolutely brilliant. It starts with a strong but not overpowering sweetness, mostly chocolate but a little brown sugar. Then the coconut hits and rides out with a vanilla finish. These flavours don't compete with one another but rather compliment each other. This was a very pleasant surprise.

Muddy black beer with limited carbonation builds a dense chocolatey head that reaches one finger. Squeezed retention pulls the foamy hat down to almost nothing on the surface. Dark chocolate, cacao nibs and coconut, all in abundance, emanate to my nostrils. I can also spot a suggestion of cereal in the scent. The impression is like a Bounty bar. Dark chocolate and cacao nibs are unbeatable on the tongue. Coconut reduces its intensity but can still be found. Alcohol raises its head above the surface and gives a slightly tangy touch. The body is medium. The body is substandard for the ABV of 11.9 %. That's why alcohol can't be fully controlled. The finish leaves loads of dark chocolate, even raw cacao, coconut and a boozy tang on the taste receptors. The aftertaste can't sleep, can't eat, can't stop this funky beat when it really drives me coconuts. The mouthfeel is medium-full, a bit sticky and desserty. It's moderately warming, alcoholic, faintly chemical and slightly edgy.
