Controversial? A contradiction in terms? Is there such a thing as a black India Pale Ale? Black as stout, close your eyes and taste and this beer is classic IPA. Powerful hops dominate the restrained chocolate and coffee notes from carefully selected roasted malt.
Hops: Brewers Gold, Centennial, Chinook, Citra
Malts: Maris Otter, Roasted barley, Wheat

Bottle-500ml.
Ok.
Stout flavours initially, then hoppy. Sort of ok, but for me a below average beer.
This was the first time drank and it was in September 2024.

First black IPA I think I’ve tried. Light citrusy notes are accompanied by dark chocolate & coffee. Bit strange for me, but not the worst

I haven’t had this in a long time and had forgotten how good it was! I will be sounding more of these out if I can remember which supermarket I bought it from.
Very true to style (Cascadian Dark Ale) with lots of chocolate and fruity liquorice, backed up with punchy citrus and fruity hops.
Great beer!
