Pour was quite modest if not a little listless. Body of deep red with a deep brown hue and only a half finger of foam that faded quick.
The scent is very malty upfront, lots of sweet bread, caramel and biscuit with only a light hop profile in the background.
Mouthfeel is a little light and washed out, I was expecting it to be heavier, at least medium bodied, and more warming.
There is a little crisp bite from the soft carbonation and a moderate foaminess. Unfortunately, as I drank this it rapidly went flat and a little syrupy, although I found this texture actually suited the taste profile.
Taste starts much the same as the scent, sweet bread with lots of caramel and biscuit at first. Then the new elements of dried currants, a little spice, cinammon and nutmeg with a hint orange peel and a little treacle in the finish.
A great tasting beer with a dissapointing body.
