Eilisillalta 🍺 tavallinen parabola maistettu, joten katotaan miten lähtee amburana -versio. Maistuu 🍻

Let me solemnize the end of my summer vacation with Amburana Parabola, vintage 2021. This is an Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon barrels with amburana wood spirals. I had to google what amburana is and having read a couple of stories of it, I recommend you to read a couple of texts, as well. The whole story of amburana in craft brewing is really intriguing. Now the beer. It pours really oily thick, black, of course. Languid carbonation conjures a tawny silky head that falls short of one finger's height. Soon the top is decorated by a fancy lace ring. The scent is adorable, like that of a Pastry Stout. Dark chocolate, cacao nibs, colossal vanilla, waffle and a bit of rice cereals constitute the olfactory triumph. And even if that's not enough, I can still pick gingerbread dough, a whisper of almond and truly distant cinnamon. Wow! Double wow!! 🖤🖤🖤 If all that is because of amburana, I'll have to buy some spirals for my homebrews, as well! The taste profile opens the gates to a different universe. It still bears pastry-like flavors but the quality Imperial Stout steps forward much more determinedly now. Bags of dark chocolate and cacao nibs still please the tastebuds. Intensive Bourbon, delicate vanilla, heavily soaked oak barrel and a tad piquant nutmeg all want to contribute to the gustatory satisfaction. Alcohol is not shy, it first gives a soft warming sensation but soon it turns edgy. A proposal of crushed coffee beans follows in the immediate proximity. Interestingly, both the fragrance and palate are rich and fairly complex but still different — which means that the combined level of complexity is high. 👍🏻👍🏻🖤🖤🖤 The body is robust. The finish puts forward raw chocolate, cacao nibs, powerful vanilla, strong alcohol and a tad harsh cinnamon. The oaky touch is rough. The aftertaste tries to solve the general equation of a parabola but fails to understand even the variables in it. The mouthfeel is massive, intense, alcoholic, strongly warming and modestly spiced. It's thick, velvety, smooth, really rich, deep and complex. Still further, the mouthfeel is full and surely barrel aged. However, it still lacks elegance, for which reason I'm confident that the beer would benefit from cellaring. I'm too lazy to do it but maybe someone is patient enough to give it a try? All good things come to an end. It applies to this beer and the vacation. But no worries, more vacation is to come when the time is ripe. 👍🏻
