BEER: Brew 2000 BREWERY: Fremont Brewing BEER STYLE: Barley Wine (Heaven Hill Bourbon BA) COUNTRY: USA ABV.: 12.8% COLOUR (EBC): Coffee Black (80.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): 55.0 AROMA: Straight up there and all so familiar Heaven Hill BA. Vanilla, coffee, chocolate, molasses. Strong one. HEAD: Tiny. One finger tall. GREY’S VIEW English Style Barley Wine aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels. Time for the first sip. And. It lands decently. Classic. Malty, but classic. Mmm-m. Taste has loads of Heaven Hill in there. Vanilla, chocolates, rye bread, molasses and what not. I like the level of rye in this one, although it’s not rye wine, but anyway, the feel of that is really nice. Maltbase/barleys’ are strongly present, rather agile and semi lively and sweetly presented. Really nice. Mouthfeel is swift and agile with tiny, but lively carbonation. Works well with that dryish maltbase and these flavours (cutting some of them from being too overpowering). Aftertaste has molasses, brown sugars, figs and even some earthy truffels can be found in there. OTHER NOTES: Fremont - Brew 2000. I’ve learned that these Fremont’s are way more expensive in the US, then what their asking price in Europe are. Not sure, but intresting point anyway. Ok. About this one. It’s a solid (Heaven Hill BA) Barley Wine. Decently flavourfull and pure tasting. Nice one, allthough not anywhere near the best ones. Quality brew anyway. *nod* BOTTLED 2017 TASTED 2021

Perjantailta. Pitkään himoittu Brew 2000 maistoon. Tumman ruskeaa, lähes mustana näyttäytyvää olutta. Ohut vaaleanruskea vaahto, joka laskeutuu nopeasti. Tuoksu on huima! Juuri sellaista kuin barley winen kuuluu olla. Ensimmäisenä nenään tulee reippaasti kuivattua makeaa luumua sekä rusinaa. Hieno makean maltainen, tumman leipäinen ja molassinen tausta. Vähän vaniljaa ja tammea myös esillä. Bourbonia ei tule muutoin oikeen esiin, mutta se ei tässä haittaa ollenkaan. Runkoa piisaa, mutta silti tämä on jotenkin miellyttävän kevyt, ja jopa helppo juotava. Vähäinen hapotus tukee tämän pehmeää tekstuuria hienosti. Maku on makean molassinen, kuivahedelmäinen, hienoisen mausteinen, mukavan savuinen, maltainen ja vaniljainen. Lopussa miellyttävän kuivattava tamminen maku tynnyristä. Aijai, on kyllä hieno teos. Helposti olisi mennyt myös yksin.
