Warmouth 6.5%, De Kromme Haring, Netherlands

Warmouth
6.5% New England IPA / Hazy IPA
We call Warmouth a bootleg NEIPA, because it uses an obscure yet delicious yeast by Bootleg Biology. This small, alternative yeast lab from Nashville created a unique blend of fruit-forward yeasts that work extremely well with aromatic hops, resulting in a gorgeous rainbow of flavours. Every version will have a different hop combination.

I'm excited! Today, when I was fixing a couple of things in our beach sauna, I saw a lynx. Yes, a lynx!! 🐆 It walked very close by the sauna hut and stopped like five meters away. I took my phone, went out as silently as I could and took a couple of pics. I shot the pics hastily as I thought the lynx would disappear any second. But actually it didn't even notice me, so I could have taken better pics but how could I have known? Then, it turned its head and noticed me. And ran away. It was my first time ever to encounter a lynx wild in nature. The beer is cloudy, milky yellow. The carbonation is somewhat tame as it releases a creamy head of less than one finger in height. Soon the surface has lost almost all traces of the foam. Pineapple, lemon, mango, peach and a twist of cantaloupe can be listed as the fruity olfactory components. A very soft baseline, must be oat flakes in the maltbill. Seductive. Lemon zest and peel, pineapple, a bit of grapefruit, a dash of resin and oat flakes land on my tastebuds. Zesty, pulpy and peely. The body clocks light. Not more, not less. The end is juicy citrusy. Not sour, nor bitter, but beautifully fruity. Marginal hop burn can be detected. Long duration overall. The mouthfeel is juicy, pulpy, relatively soft, only faintly crisp, neatly smooth, slightly dry and drying. Gulpable. Could show a bit more character though.

Belle robe, belle mousse. C'est très bon, fruité à point. Validé.
