Opaque black beer with lively carbonation unveils a silky, chocolatey head that well exceeds one finger. Long-standing retention allows a cute haze to waft long on the top. The lacing kisses the glass and climbs upwards, leaving a dense curtain behind. The olfactory sphere is extremely desserty and thick: dark chocolate, loads of cacao nibs, massive tonka beans and astonishingly balanced cinnamon constitute a well orchestrated potpourri. Tonka is interesting, it's hugely divisive as some people hate it with passion while others like it. I find it a delicate cocktail of vanilla, nutty aromas and a suggestion of clove. Therefore, I guess, I'm also picking a bit of almond in the fragrance. 🖤🖤 The taste profile is tweaked in a harsher and more spiced direction. I could even describe it "piquant". Cacao is like raw, a tad sharp even. Tonka is not as overwhelming anymore as it was on the nose although still recognizeable. Cinnamon shakes hands with clove as they both have lost their soft sides completely. Now they are a tad bitter — it may actually be a result of coumarin that both tonka and cinnamon contain. Alcohol is modestly arrogant. I can also pick hops among the gustatory elements, which is uncommon with Pastry Stouts. The slight huskiness and bitterness make the palate less mouthwatering than what an excessive oversweet cakey supply alone would have guaranteed. The body is medium to medium-full. Only. 🤔 The finish is even more bitter than the actual taste. Coarse cacao bean, harsh cinnamon and a light-hoppy touch merge into a slow end. The aftertaste gets hypnotized by alternating whirls for quite some time. The mouthfeel is sticky, a tad husky, piquant and spiced. It's desserty but less so based on the scent only. Started truly promising but failed to bring the experience up to the level I wanted. NOTE: The barcode leads to a wrong version of Willy Tonka.

Tuoksu on tonkaa. Ja niin on makukin. Kaneli erottuu selkeästi tonkan muuten "sekalaisesta" makumaailmasta. Suklaisuuttakin löytyy, mutta mausteisuus on päällimmäisenä. Humalointi on yllättävän runsasta ja tuo jälkimakuun pientä pistävyyttä.
